There are many
Bombing
Strategies. I'll tend to
disable an enemy wing through a
certain methodology. I
don't need experience points
anymore so will usually try to
leave the larger experience
points for the pilots who need
to rank up. With that said
the three phases of any of my
strategies are:
1) Kill their defense (expensive
to rebuild and helps when
bombing the rest)
2) Kill their money making
abilities (Gov's first and then
Residence)
3) Kill the single shot infra
next
4) Kill CC's last
But
but but, misty!!! You said
"three phases" and listed four.
Yes, I know. These days,
there's very few wings who build
mega infrastructures and by the
time I get to the CC's, they are
either gone or nearly gone from
the pilots who need the
experience points. OR...
mega infra wings have so many
CC's that the light infra goes
quickly and then it becomes a
two-phase deal (light stuff and
heavy stuff).
No two wings will die exactly
the same way so be flexible.
Also, consider taking out their
computer planes (especially
E-3's). Don't bother with
computer planes on "newbie"
wings. Below are just a
few ways to approach an attack
strategy. See "Bomber
Equip/Arming" page for
configurations. Weapons in

Bombing Tactics are nearly as
important as bombing strategies,
especially if you do not want to
get shot down. Two things
to consider while you bomb are:
1) your bombing pattern and 2)
sector infra reduction.
I'll attempt to explain why.
Bombing Patterns:
If absolutely nobody in the
enemy wing is online (and no
other fighters are shooting at
you), then your pattern doesn't
matter much. But!
When fighters are chasing you,
you need to know their
disadvantages.
Fighter disadvantages include:
- fighters are the chasers
- fighters tend to sweep a wing
by rows
- fighters have to "lock on" to
you in each sector (after the
Jan/Feb 2009 updates).
Time is on the bombers' side.
Even a millisecond will make the
difference between getting shot
and evading a fighter. The
factor that you arguably have
the most control over is your
bombing pattern. You want
a pattern that fighters have a
hard time following -- preferably
a random pattern.
Consider these three bombing
pattern examples:
|
|
Fighter
Friendly |
|
Bomber Friendly |
|
Very Bomber Friendly |
|
|
|
|
 |
|
 |
|
 |
|
|
Keep in mind that a fighter can
monitor your patterns if you are
in a non-stealth aircraft...
so keep it random, always, for
survival sakes.
Infra Reduction:
This point often gets
overlooked. Anybody can
jump into a bomber and just go
bomb any which way or sector
they like. No problems...
until the fighters show up.
When I'm bombing a wing by
myself or with maybe another one
or two pilots, I try to reduce
the infra evenly amongst the
sectors. There's a couple
of reasons why. The first
has to do with the defenders'
ability to patrol sectors.
(see
infrastructure section)
If I know a defender can patrol
fewer sectors easier, why would
I want to bomb out whole sectors
at a time? I don't!
I want to bomb them down evenly
so they have to find me in as
many sectors as possible.
Then I can keep my pattern more
random, too.
Another reason is that sometimes
CO, VCO and DO pilots are busy
doing other things and just peek
into their wings. If they
see a whole sector gone, that
grabs their attention and more
than likely, they will rebuild
and maybe even start chasing me.
If they see a bunch of numbers
in each sector, well...
I've caught many rebuilders
asleep and just leave.
Also, I'll avoid leaving a
sector at exactly 50 because the
game flags
50 in yellow, indicating
wing creation infra sector
levels... another
attention getter for otherwise
complacent rebuilders. Of
course, you hope to get to the
point where you can bomb and
kill the wing you are attacking.
Sooner or later, the sectors
have to go to zero. Right?
Try bombing each sector down to
15 or 20 infra. It'll take
you about 7-8 minutes to kill
the wing from there (assuming
you are the only one bombing).
Team Bombing:
It is basic
math.
Check it out.
Let's say your
wing wants to
bomb a wing that
has all sectors
built like the
one on the
right.
Assumptions:
all bombers bomb
at 25 infra per
minute; CC's and
Gov's take two
shots; nobody in
the enemy wing
is online;
nobody is
defending the
wing in
fighters; no
repair or
fatigue time
considered
It would take
2610 bombs to
kill the infra
and 207 to kill
the defense.
Let's look at
time it will
take:

Rhetorical
question:
Would you rather
bomb alone or
with four
pilots?
Five bombers
